Gucci: From Italian Fashion Leather to Perfume

A small family business grew to become the huge Gucci fashion line . It had relatively humble beginnings and originally sold leather goods. Gucci became one of the giants in the fashion industry at the hand of Guccio Gucci, who founded the Gucci saddlery shop in 1906.

It was later in 1938 that Gucci opened its first boutique. Eventually, Guccio Gucci’s initials (GG) became one of the most recognized symbols of this line in the 1960s. Gucci perfume was an offshoot of the famous brand, and it seems to be a fairly common practice these days for fashion lines to branch out into the perfume industry.

Smells Like Leather?

Gucci got into perfume during the 1990s, and you can find both men’s and women’s fragrances. Even the packaging seems suitably fashionable, with clean lines & the GG logo in pink on the packaging for the Gucci women’s perfume called Envy Me. This particular perfume by Gucci has a lot of interesting accents such as pomegranate, pink pepper, pineapple, and litchi.

It also contains sandalwood, musk, and floral scents. Envy Me retails for around $82 for 3.4 ounces of their eau de toilette. For men who desire a strong scent, the Pour Homme Eau De Toilette is available at around $62 for 3.4 ounces and one of its notes is, of course, leather. Envy for Men is also available, as is a limited edition perfume by Gucci for women called Envy Me2.

Suffice it to say that you can generally find discounted perfumes at various websites, so you should always do a Google search before purchasing your Gucci perfume at a major retailer’s website. You never know what bargains you might find after all!

Another nice scent to try is the Gucci Eau de Parfum II, which has a lot of fruit in it with notes like blackberry and mandarin, along with nice floral touches like jasmine and heliotrope. Being an eau de parfum, it is more expensive than the eau de toilette.

It retails for around $65 for 1.7 ounces, so if you wanted 3.4 ounces (compared to the Envy Me Eau de Toilette at $82) it would run you around $130. The reason for the price difference is that eau de parfum contains a higher concentration of perfume oils.
For an eau de parfum, the fragrance should contain 8-15% perfume oil, and eau de toilette will have between 4-10% perfume oil in it. ..to conclude this article on Gucci perfume.

How to Choose the Perfect Perfume for Women

Many men think that buying gifts for women is hard, but when they start to think about perfume it becomes much easier. It is uncommon to go wrong with a bottle of perfume, unless she has a deep dislike for a particular fragrance or has some kind of allergy.

If you opt for a famous designer fragrance or one that has recently been introduced, chances are you paid full or close to full price and that also will tell the recipient that this is something you could not have grabbed at a clearance sale six months ago.

Just as women are so different from one another, there is a myriad of perfumes to choose from. One thing you may be able to gauge without hinting that you’re thinking of a perfume for the woman in your life is her preferences in fragrances. Does she like fruity or floral, cool and crisp, or warm and royal? The easy way to ascertain this is to casually ask her what perfume she is wearing and how it smells so good on her.

You can then keep that name in mind when perfume shopping for your woman. You could play real safe by buying her another bottle of the same fragrance, but that would not really show that you went to any effort to shop for her. Better still, you could check online or ask a salesperson at the women’s perfume counter at a perfume store like Perfumania or Ulta or at department stores for their advice. Once you tell them that your lady love likes Beautiful or Pleasures or whatever other name you have, they will be able to guide you in the right direction.

You can always ask for a test of the original scent and the new one you are considering purchasing and see if they do indeed seem similar. Buying something she likes and still being creative is a sure fire way of making your present a success.

Another thing that you could do once you know about her taste in fragrances is to get some thing else with the same scent. Not a bottle of perfume, but bath salts, lotion or shower gel in her favorite fragrance will be the perfect way of giving her more of what suits her and what she opts to wear.

If your woman is a compulsive ‘returner’ than you could include a gift receipt from the store that you purchased it in case she wants to exchange the bottle or buy something from another department.

It often happens that perfume manufacturers and stores run promotions where you can get toiletries and neat make up as bonus gifts for purchasing a certain brand. Never make the mistake to keep that gift  to give it to her the next occassion. Female intuition will tell her to snif ‘free’ from a 100 miles away. Give it to her with the women’s perfume so she has more reason to get excited about. Whatever, a sampler of some other new products, a new lipstick and a cute bag to keep it all in will be the icing on the cake.
